BIBLICAL ART for the heart & home

Hineni

Isaiah 43:19

I recently heard Isaiah 43:19 read, and was drawn into the hope and beauty of the words spoken. Later that night, I looked up the Hebrew for this verse and was struck with how the first word of the verse is הנני (pronounced hineni).

Hineni… God is saying, “Here I am, doing a new thing!”

I knew I had to paint this verse, and what better flower to showcase it than the Narcissus. The Narcissus blooms in Israel in the middle of winter and can even be spotted in the harsh Negev desert.

The captivating beauty and strong fragrance of this flower is calling out to us and is just one of the many ways God signals His presence to us through nature.

At the end of the painting, one word… הנני (Hineni).

Here I am, even here, even now.
